I'm Awake!

When Maya wakes up at 6:30 in the morning, she immediately starts calling my name. Just the other day, she happened to start calling for me, while I was feeding Jonah, so I couldn't go to get her immediately. So, I started counting. Maya said "Mommy" 85times before I got to her room. Literally. Then, when I got there, she didn't want to get out of bed. She wanted me to just stand there while she read her Mickey book. Go figure.

Later that day, we decided to make pumpkin muffins. It was the first time Maya actually wanted to help me cook. She licked the spoon. Oddly, she wanted nothing to do with the chocolate, but she scraped and licked the can of pumpkin clean. I don't think she realized what she was missing. She took one bite of a muffin and ran away, never to return!

"See? I'm helping clean!"

"This cooking stuff isn't so bad after all!"

"I'm reading to Scuffy in bed."

"I like when Mommy keeps me company while I play in bed."

"Mommy doesn't mind getting up early, as long as I make my sweet faces."

The Spring Tease.

It has been so beautiful outside, here in New Hampshire. Even today, though it's cloudy and drizzly, the temperature is so nice. We have taken several walks this past week, and we have paid several visits to the playground. Maya loves going on the swings, and down the slide. Jonah usually relaxes in the sling while one of us pushes Maya. I am thinking that we might want to get Maya a little slide for her birthday next week. It might be a nice thing to have at home, since we don't get out as much as we used to. I think Maya is really getting used to having a new addition to the family. She loves Jonah, and helps us take good care of him. I am pretty sure she can't wait until he can play. She tries to dance with him, get into his play gym with him, and climb into bed with him... But he doesn't seem to realize she exists yet.

"I have my own baby. Her name is Harlene, and I carry her in this carrier. Unfortunately, she is always falling out of the carrier. Apparently she needs a five-point-harness."

"This is Baby Jonah's bassinet."

"Jonah is lucky - his bed is portable, so he gets to sleep in the same room as Mommy!"

"Sometimes, Jonah is very serious."

"But sometimes, he makes very silly faces."

"I love the swings."

"Daddy and Mommy push me, and I go SO high!"

"Catch me, Daddy!"

Smile for the Camera!

So, Jonah has started smiling, but he is very unpredictable. He was supposed to be the star of this video, as he had been smiling only moments before I pushed "record." Instead, Maya took over (big shocker), by repeatedly saying, "Jonah Bologna," and making sound effects. Sigh. Someday, Jonah will get his 5 minutes of fame...

Did I mention...

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is Maya's favorite show? Check out how excited she gets when she realizes the song is on.

Moving Again!

Yep, that's right - we're moving again. This time, we're moving to Connecticut, to what we hope is a permanent home. Well, you know - at least for the foreseeable future. Anyway, last weekend we took the kids to Connecticut to check out some houses. This year we are renting, and we're excited to have a home that we love. Anyway, as worried as we were, about taking the kids on a long car ride, and then dragging them around to look at houses, they were wonderful! Maya had a blast running around the houses, and Jonah was equally happy to relax in his car seat.

"Jonah loves to play with me, because I'm older and wiser."

"Mommy and Daddy love freshly tubbied babies, so they take lots of pictures."

"When we went house shopping, one of the sellers let me play with her Disney Princess shoes! Score!"

"I can't wait until we have a yard!"

"I love being outside..."

By the way - have I mentioned that my little Maya is taking a gymnastics class? Seriously - we're talking uneven bars, balance beam, and trampoline. It really just the cutest thing watching all the little tumblers! You know what the best part is? There are huge murals of Disney Characters in the gym. I mean, what could be better?

"Mommy says that when you do a tumble, you have to look at your belly button."

"Doing a backwards tumble is tough!"

"Jonah makes a good blankie."

"Tumbling is fun!"

"Mommy spots me while I do somersaults!"

"My baby brother turned 1 month old last week!"

I Think it's Safe to Say...

Maya sees Minnie. We were at the library last week, where Maya played (and chattered) herself silly, while Jonah slept. At some poiny, Maya noticed a Minnie doll on top of one of the bookcases. Clearly, there is a Disney obsession goin on here.

FYI

Maya and Jonah really like Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I mean, really.

Jonah is ONE MONTH Old!!!

We took Jonah to his one-month appointment with Dr. Turkey on Tuesday. He was a gem! He is now 7 pounds, 15 ounces, and 21.5 inches tall. He's getting so big! He is in the 50th percentile for height, and the 25th percentile for weight. Dr. Turkey was very happy with his muscle tone, as he is holding his head up like a pro. We are so proud of our little man. Incidentally, I got to the appointment 15 minutes early, so little Maya could get in some playtime...

Jonah Becomes Part of the Family Tradition...

Maya loves taking a shower with Mommy and Daddy - plus, it's so much easier than giving a bath. She started at around 3 weeks old. Last night, we decided to give Jonah a try. Guess what? he loved it, too!

"Mommy, did Daddy hold me in the shower when I was small like Jonah?"

"I want to get in, too!"

"Isn't it fun to shower with Mommy and Daddy, Jonah?"
