Maya's First Haircut!
Well, we finally bit the bullet and took Maya to get a haircut. The hairdresser took off a whopping 2.5 inches, leaving Maya with a sweet little girl hairdo. She looks very sweet, and she can actually see again! Wahoo! In other news, Grammy and Grampy came to New Hampshire for a couple of days to play with us. On Friday night, Grampy and Kevin took Maya to see a Dartmouth hockey game. They had a great time eating hot dogs and pretzels, and apparently, Maya was extremely entertained. Too bad the season ended last night. Anyway, we've had a very eventful weekend, so now Maya is sleeping it off in her crib, while Jonah sleeps in off in his car seat. What a sweet couple of babes...
"Danielle, the hair lady, gave me this giant bib, a portable DVD player with Finding Nemo on it, and plenty of goldfish. Gooooood times."
"I sat on Daddy's lap for my haircut."
"I love getting my hair sprayed."
"Look! Hockey!"
"I shared pretzels with Grampy at the game."
"Grampy loves sports. I think they're okay..."
"Mommy, you should come sit with us!"
"I love giving kisses to the baby."

Big Sister Maya...
I know I've been a slacker, but hey, I have a new baby, what can I say? Anyway, I still have a million photos to post, from our stay in the hospital. Maya really loves Jonah, and she's been a great big sis so far. Even in the hospital, she gave him so much love.
"Hugs..."
"Nice work, Mommy!"
"Kisses for Jonah..."
"He's a pretty cool baby, Mommy and Daddy!"
"Mommy likes to hold the baby, and she says he might break if I drop him, so I don't really hold him too much yet."

Meet Maya's Baby...
Guess who's here?! That's right... We had our baby on Thursday morning! He was due on February 9th, but I went into labor on Wednesday evening. After a fairly quick, uneventful labor and delivery, Jonah was born at 1:51 on Thursday morning. He was 6 pounds, 14 ounces, and 20 inches long. He has been a sweet, happy, little boy, and we are so excited to bring him home in a few hours. Maya has been with my parents for the past 2 days, and she is having a blast. She has visited us in the hospital 3 times, and she loves her baby brother. I'm sure it will be different once we come home with Jonah, and my parents leave on Sunday, but for now, she is just excited to take care of her baby. She even says his name perfectly! I have a million photos and videos, but these will have to be okay for now. I'll post more soon. Oh, and for those of us who have emailed or called us - thank you! We will get back to you soon!
"When Mommy said 'good night' to me on Wednesday, she still had the baby in her belly."
"He's here! Happy birthday, Jonah!"
"Mommy says this is exactly what I looked like as a newborn."
"Censor that tushy! Jonah might be angry about this photo someday!"
"Mommy loves this baby, but she still loves me, too."
"This is Jonah's first tubby. He takes a shower, like me!"
"Grammy loves the baby, but she plays will me a lot, too."
"I don't know about this new guy..."
"Nevermind. He grew on me. I like his feet."
"Jonah has really long fingernails. He scratched up his face in the first couple of hours after he was born."
"Mommy, why is the baby so sleepy?"

Maya's Jewish Christmas
Kevin and I decided to take Maya to Connecticut to see the family at Christmastime. Maya came down with a cold the day we left, so she began the trip a little under the weather. She always has a great time at Grammy and Grampy's house though. Nora, Adam, and Debbie came home, and she also got to see Nana, Papa, Bubbe, Kevin, and Cousin Tyson over the weekend. It was a jam packed weekend, and we drove home last night, exhausted from the trip. Today, it's back to normal again. We don't have much going on this week, and we'll probably spend New Year's Eve going out to eat locally. Maya is going o use this week to catch up on her beauty sleep, and to get rid of her cough and cold. She seems happy to be home, but I know she misses her big family in Connecticut!
"Christmas in Connecticut is fun! I didn't go to the movies, but Mommy and Daddy went to see Avatar!"
"Daddy, your slippers are warm! Can I have them?"
"Grampy dressed up as Santa, so he could surprise the neighbor's children. I guess they figure he isn't doing anything on Christmas Eve. Grampy thinks he's a little less 'Santa,' and a little more 'Mel Brooks.'"
"Mommy made a chocolate babka for our trip. She's on a baking kick."
"Mommy, I like your babka swirl!"
"This is my tongue."
"We went out for Chinese food on Christmas, and I got my usual - chicken fingers. You know, Chinese chicken fingers taste nothing like the McDonald's kind, or the Dino Nuggets we get at Costco."

Just me and my Fries!
Apparently Red Robin is a great place to relax with a basket of steak fries... Right?
A Giant Red Robin
Well, first of all, I apologize for our absence. Maya and I have been spending the week with Grammy and Grampy, and it's been very difficult to blog with them here. I admit, it's definitely my fault, but we were having so much fun, there really wasn't time to download photos. Anyway, we alternated between Red Robin and Sweet Tomatoes this week for dinner, and it was such a treat! Maya loves Sweet Tomatoes, but she doesn't seem too sure about Red Robin. She enjoyed the fries though. While we were there, the big Red Robin mascot was walking around. Maya did fine with the Disney Characters while we were in Florida, but she was a little scared of the big bird. Stay tuned for some videos of her reaction.
"Grammy and Grampy bought me this beautiful dress, but we had to return it, because we think it'll be too small in the summer. Boo. I'm growing way too fast, you know?"
"I'm double fisting the french fries. Did you know they give a bottomless bowl of fries at Red Robin? Score!"
"That bird is so creepy. I'm fine with looking at it, but I won't be touching it any time soon..."
"You know, fried and burgers are good, but there will always be a special place in my heart for peas."

Grammy and Grampy Make a Comeback!
Auntie Nora has kindly reminded me that I haven't updated the blog in a whopping 3 days. I do apologize, but confess that I've been busy playing with Grammy and Grampy, who arrived on Sunday afternoon. In the past 3 days, we've gone to Cooperella, Costco, the mall, and Sweet Tomatoes. Maya has been a super baby through all of our travels. She's really getting used to Grammy and Grampy, and has been playing with them like crazy. I know she loves the attention. I'm sure she can't wait to be with them all the time, once we're back in the Northeast. We can't wait!
"Mommy lets me play in the play area at the mall now. I'm a pro."
"Peek-a-boo!"
"This is me at Sweet Tomatoes. Grammy said it was the messiest she's ever seen me! I'm very proud of that."
"This dinner is delicious, no matter how messy it looks!"
"Grampy, this hat looks good on you, but it's really not my style."

Fun with Aunt Debs
Today is Debbie's last full day in town. Maya will be sad to see her leave - that's for sure. They've been wonderful friends and playmates. Last night Debbie even watched Maya will Kevin and I went out for after-dinner-tea and cookies. We had such a nice, relaxing time, and Debbie said that Maya was a very good girl. Tonight, we are having one last hurrah at Sweet Tomatoes, and then we'll say good-bye to Debs at about noon tomorrow.
"Auntie Debs and I are best buds."
"Like my tie dyed pj's?"
"Um, Keira? What are we looking at?"
"Keira and James, I like your table!"

9 Month Maya!
This morning, Debbie and I took Maya to the doctor for her 9 month appointment. It was a fairly uneventful appointment, although Maya was on fire the whole time. She tore up the paper on the examining table, made raspberries in the mirror, and managed to drool on every possible part of the office. She was pretty excited and high energy. So anyway, Maya weighed in at a healthy 17 pounds, 9 ounces (28th percentile), and measured 27.5 inches in length (40th percentile). She also behaved very well with her 2 shots (polio and hepatitis). Dr. Put Put said that she is doing everything she's supposed to be doing for her age, and also mentioned that her gums feel swollen, which probably means that a tooth is on its way. So... all in all, it was a terrific appointment. I guess you all might think it's strange that I happened to have a camera with me at the doctor's office, but I keep it in my purse, and since we spent a long time waiting in the office, I thought I'd whip it out for a shoot!
"I'm so excited to be at the doctor!"
"Mommy, why am I still naked?"
"Wait, how many of us are in the room? Mom, Aunt Deb, me... and who are these other people behind the glass?"
"I'm sick of waiting. Why do doctors always make you wait?"

We're Tourists Again!
Maya took her first trip to the Arch this morning. It was a cold day in St. Louis, but there was no rain in the forecast, so we packed ourselves up and made our way to the Arch, so Auntie Deb could have a look. We didn't end up going to the top, but we saw the Lewish and Clark IMAX movie, and we walked around the museum. It was a nice visit, and we came home in time for Maya to take a nice afternoon nap. When she woke up, we paid Target a visit, and then came home to play for a few hours before bed. It was a great day. I hope Debbie is having a fun time here in St. Lou. She and Maya have really hit it off, and they've been playing like crazy. In 5 days, Maya won't have visitors again until February - what will she do without all her fun company? Hmmm... I guess I'll have to entertain that little munchkin...
"I want to get in, Mommy! Now!"
"I don't really like to get out of the tubby, but at least I'm cozy in here."
"Hello friends! I'm just playing..."
"Auntie Debs, you are really fun!"
"What else do you want to do?"
