On our Own Again.

Well, Debs left yesterday, meaning that this weekend is our first weekend on our own in 3 weeks! Fortunately, Kevin is home to keep us company, which is really nice. We had a low key day today, and then we went to a co-ed baby shower for my friend Sarah in the evening. Unfortunately, we didn't snap any photos of adorably pregnant Sarah (oops), but we still had a great time chatting with old friends. We don't have plans for the rest of the weekend, so Maya plans on practicing her crawling, eating, and sleeping. What a life!
"Mommy, what are you talking about? Charlie, do you know what she's talking about?"

"Just playing on the kitchen floor."

"This is my first deck of cards. What do you think?"

"Mommy doesn't eat red meat, but I love me some cow!"

Party Girl

We went to a holiday party at a friend's house last night. We were instructed to bring a potluck dish, and 2 gifts under $5 each. During the day, I made Asian pilaf salad, and I went to Target and snagged several fun items from the cheapy section, including Uno and several bottles of body scrub and lotion. We had a really nice time at the party - Michael always puts out a lovely, healthy spread of food, and all of the friends brought fun dishes to share. Maya ate like a queen. She had a cracker, cheese, bread, a strawberry, a piece of mango, yogurt, and some rice. Honestly, she wasn't very hungry this morning, so I think she might have still been in a food coma. What a cutie. Anyway, we missed "shabby gifts," which is really fun gift exchange game. We were sad to miss it, but it was already an hour past Maya's bedtime... She did terrific job staying happy throughout the party, but she definitely starts to lose it around 8pm. I hope she stops turning into a pumpkin at 8pm sometime soon...

"I'm having the best time ever!"

"I still like the exersaucer, even after all these months!"

"Mommy just took my piggy tails out, and this is what my hair looks like... yikes."

Playgroup Fun

Today Maya and I went out to play at Brooke's house. It was friend-central! Brook and Brie were there with James, Keira, and Alex, and then Mindy and Corey, Jennifer and Katherine, and Tina and Dominic came over. We had a great time. Brooke was very Martha Stewart-esque, with her yummy treats for the grown ups and kids. Anyway, I think all the kids had a fun time, and it's always nice to see friends. Isn't it funny how kids love to play with toys that aren't their own? Anyway, this afternoon was a little less exciting. I accidentally locked myself out of the house, and ended up hanging out with our 85-year-old neighbors for an hour, until Kev got home. I got locked out for a pretty silly reason, which is way too complicated to go into. Oh well. Right now, Maya is playing with Kevin and Cat, her trusty Caterpillar friend. She loves Cat - especially when he talks to her in his high pitched "Cat voice."

"Mommy, one day you'll look back on this day, and the fact that we got locked out, and you'll laugh!"

"Hey Nash! Thanks for having us over!"

"Keira and I enjoy Nashy's toys. Thanks for sharing!"

"Corey, when you get to be my age, your mommy might let you play with these toys."

"I'm having a blast. Seriously."
