Guess what?!?

Maya doesn't dig the rice cereal... but she loves her some barley cereal!

Maya's Pooptastic Mood.

"Hi Eebee!"

"Personal space, Eebee. Personal Space. Back off."

"Mommy, I love you."

We are cranky today. Whiny, irritable, sleepy, and just plain old crabby. Don't know why, but I think she didn't sleep late enough this morning. Right around 9:30 this morning, she started to let me know that she wasn't all that happy. This quickly progressed to misery. Oh well. She's asleep now, so hopefully she'll be a happy camper when she wakes up.

Oh, and in case you're wondering, these photos are from yesterday, when Maya was in an awesome-tastic mood. I couldn't bear to take photos of crabby McFinkel this morning.

The situation is becoming critical.

Maya might really need a haircut. The locks are out of control.

Four Months!!!

It seems like Maya was just born, but 4 months is suddenly upon us! She's almost big enough for her new umbrella stroller!!! You think she likes it?

Geez, Mom!

"I thought we discussed this already! Stop taking pictures of me with "Sleepy Guy!'"

More Food, Please!

Mmmmmm...

"Feed me, please. I'm ready."

"Finally. Thanks, Mom."

Rice cereal must taste like chocolate...

She loved it! Watch as Maya tries to eat both hands, the cereal, and her bib, all at the same time!

Um...

Who thinks Maya looks like the mailman?

Maya's Stats

We went to Maya's 4 month appointment with Dr. Putt Putt (a.k.a. Dr. Putnam) this morning. He said Maya is the cutest baby he's ever seen. Well, maybe I made that up, but still... Anyway, Maya is porkin' out at a whopping 11 pounds, 13.25 ounces. This puts her in the 14th percentile for weight. So, I guess "porkin' out" is sort of an exaggeration. She's also 22 inches long, or as I like to say - 2 inches away from 2 feet tall. Maybe she'll be a model! Anyway, Putt Putt said we can start her on rice cereal tonight. We can't wait. The poor thing got 4 shots today though, so hopefully she'll be feeling well enough to chow down....

"Mommy, you make me laugh with all your silly noises!"

"Leave me alone. I'm updating the blog."

"Look at the corduroys Mommy made me yesterday!"

Red Alert!

Take our new poll, please!

She wants to eat!

Lately, Maya seems to want food. Like, real people food. She was eyeing my popcorn today, and even asked for a sip of my Coke Zero...

Did I give Maya some Coke? You decide...

"Please give me some rice cereal, Mommy!"

Maya, you're so stretchy!

Check out the face Maya makes as she stretches. I couldn't get her to do the legs at the same time, but still, this is pretty cute.

Why so tired?

"Hey Mom? Why do I always have to hang out with this sleepy guy?"

We rocked West County Mall.

We love playtime at the mall. Brooke and Nash were there too, in case you're wondering who took the photo.

"Keira and I had the same due date, but she decided to get outta dodge 6 days early. Too bad - we could've been twins... sort of."

Hailey's Last Hurrah!

"I'm sleepy today."

"I may be sleepy today, but this bean bag isn't my crib. You can't fool me."

Jen and Hailey (and Ben, of course) are moving to Denver on Tuesday. Yesterday, we had a final "playdate" with Hailey and friends. We went to Brook's house for morning goodies, and playtime. We had a nice time together, although Maya and I left early because we had someone from "Parents as Teachers" coming to play with Maya. Anyway, it was fun times, and we'll miss Jen and Hailey. Especially the part where we swap stories at the mall over coffee. Sad...

"Mom! Let me go!"

"Where's my mommy?"

"Bye guys! We'll miss you!"

Charlie loves a good photo opp.

"I'm 6 days older and 6 days wiser than you Maya!"

"I'm playing alone, and I love it!"

Standing Maya

She really wanted to stand before her shower last night. We have a front view too, but Kevin has deemed it "inappropriate." Remind me never to give Maya the password to edit the blog. She might want to erase this during the teenage years...

Good Morning, Maya!

Maya always wakes up happy.

Maya the Model

So, brilliant Brooke made a dress for her baby girl. It is so adorable, with little apples on it. Since her baby hasn't made an appearance yet, Maya modeled the dress. It was so cute. I want to make one, but so far, I'm only in the practicing stage. No dresses for me until I can cut in a straight line, right? Anyway, Nash and Maya hung out in the dog bed again today. He's such a good sharer. Maya and I also went to visit a local gym, to see if it was a contender for me. Unfortunately, I was totally put off by the babysitting situation. 15 kids at a time, with 2 babysitters! Yikes. No thanks. Maya is napping in her car seat now. She seems very sleepy today. I'm on my tip-toes so she doesn't wake up.

"It's nice sharing this bed with you Nash!"

"Brooke, your baby is so lucky to have such a pretty dress. These apples look so good, I might just eat them..."

One More...

Is Mommy obsessed with videotaping Maya in the Jumperoo? Hmmmm... Perhaps... But c'mon, who wouldn't want this on tape?

Jumperoo Update

Still lovin' it.

Busy Baby.

We had a very busy morning today. We started out at school, where I took the very last of my belongings - a multicolored set of plastic drawers. I intended to leave them for the new teacher, but I've suddenly become crafty, and I need them for my workroom (a.k.a the guestroom/Kevin's study/my craft room). I'm using them to store my sewing materials. After our trip to school, we headed over to meet Brooke at Hancock Fabrics, where we bought what we needed to follow a pattern for making a sewing machine cover. This will be my first real project, and I can't wait to get some practice so I can make some baby clothes and other goodies. We had a low key afternoon. I kind of like this whole, "busy morning, slow afternoon" business. Works out well for us!

"I look just like Daddy. Well, at least in this picture..."

"You crack me up Mommy! Now go sew me a dress!"

"Sorry I was so bossy, Mommy. I love you."

Daddy's Home!

Kevin is post-call today. For those of you who don't know what the means, it means that he just worked a 24 hour shift, and now has the day off. Hooray for Daddy time! Sometimes he comes home outrageously exhausted, but today he came home raring to go. We went for a 3 mile walk at the mall and then met Nash and Brooke for some playtime. Now we're home, and of course he is ready to take a long nap, but at least we had him for a few hours! I think Maya loves it when Kevin is home. It's just more people to hold her and love her. It's been very hot here, so Maya has been sleeping a little more than usual. I think her hair makes her super hot and sweaty. On a day like today, her hair becomes totally unruly and somewhat matted down to her head. Silly girl.

"I can't believe I was ever that small. And swollen. I can't believe I was ever that swollen..."

Christina Takes her First Shower.

Wait, that's not right. What I meant to say, was that today was Christina's baby shower. Christina is one of my friends from school. She is 31 weeks pregnant with a little boy - Charlie. She looks so adorable and happy, which makes me really miss being pregnant. I loved my wiggly baby bump. It's so hot here though, so surely being pregnant in this heat is no bargain. Anyway, Maya and I had a great time schmoozing with the quite large population of peeps at the shower. Christina is one popular girl! Maya even had a chance to wear her favorite party dress. What could be better? So that was our outing for today. Maya is now exhausted and cranky, so we're off to hit the crib.

"What are you looking at?"

"Christina is cooking up a boyfriend for me."

"Sara and I have known each other since I was in the womb."

"Mommy, Christina's baby is going to be stylin' with all his fun new outfits!"

So, I'm a day behind on the blog. Oh well. Yesterday we paid a visit to Grant's Farm. Oddly enough, this was Maya's third time there in her short life. I guess we just can't get enough of those farm animals. Anyway, the visit yesterday was short, because Kevin had to go into work, and it was 95 degrees outside. Brooke and Nash met us for a short time, but like I said, we were super efficient! Grampy got a beer or 2 at the end, while us ladies decided to hold off, considering it was only 10:15 in the morning! Maya took a great nap in the afternoon, followed by a trip to the mall and a visit to her favorite dive - Sweet Tomatoes. It was Grammy and Grampy's last night, so we had an obligation to spend it there! Adios Grammy and Grampy. See you at Thanksgiving (but maybe you'll sneak in a visit before then, eh?)
"I love holding Daddy's hand."

"Mommy, can I eat too?"

"We just ran through the sprinkler, so my face is very confused..."

"Seeing all those animals was so exciting!"

Hazy, Hot, and Humid...

So we went in the pool!!! That's right, yesterday Brooke invited us over for some fun in the sun. She blew up the pool and broke out the Elmo sprinkler, so we could go for a dip. Maya donned her new pink bathing suit and cover up, courtesy of Grammy and Grampy. She was looking mighty adorable, but I still wasn't sure she'd enjoy being dipped in cold water. Brooke was smart though - she filled up the pool long before the babies actually went inside. Nice. Anyway, surprisingly enough, Maya loved it. I mean, she just ate it up. She even liked the Elmo sprinkler, although every time she went under, she went a little crazy from having the water in her eyes. Sadly, it was so bright and sunny, she could barely look up at me for photos. That's okay though. We had a fantastic time just getting her all wet. I can't wait for our trip to Orlando in October. Maya is going to be a little star in her bathing suit - at that point it might even fit her!!!

Maya and Mommy hang out before Maya goes in the pool. Nice cover up Maya!

"Where's my margarita?"

"Like my new suit?"

"Grammy loves me."

"This is MY pool Yaya - but you can come in 'cause I love you."

Will Maya be the next Top Chef??

Okay, I admit it - I love reality television (hiding my head in shame). One of my favorite shows is Top Chef, which is on Bravo. Unfortunately, I no longer have Bravo, but I managed to watch every episode imaginable of Top Chef, before losing my free preview. Anyway, I fell in love with the show, and was beside myself with excitement, when Brooke sent me a text message, showing me that the Top Chef Tour was coming to the brand new Whole Foods in St. Louis. So yesterday, we packed ourselves up (cameras and all), and made our way over to the new Whole Foods, in the 90 degree heat. Unfortunately, when we got there, we were greeted by 2 unexpected factors:

1. You needed tickets (free tickets - weird, eh?) to see the contestants do a food prep demo, on a large bus. Otherwise, you could watch it on a small plasma TV in the parking lot (remember - it was 90 degrees and muggy magoo).

2. There were only 2 contestants there - Dale and Josie. I barely remember Josie, and Dale was a great chef, but kind of the "jerk of the season." I didn't care much about either of them.

Needless to say, I was bummed. I took some photos of Dale, who managed to make some ridiculously goofy faces at Maya, and after we didn't get chosen off the waiting list to see the food prep show, we just went into Whole Foods and shopped. Sigh. It was pretty lame, but sort of fun nonetheless. Maya seemed to liked it. Especially when we rubbed ice cubes on her legs. She's a cutie, don't you think?

You like this hat we found at Whole Foods? I don't know if we should be covering up Maya's 'do...

Dale (Season 4 of Top Chef) makes faces at Maya.

The Top Chef bus had no room for us. Not even Maya's sweet face could have gotten us off that waiting list...

"I'm hatching my plan to become the next Top Chef!"
