Maya's Little Pony

We were supposed to go to Boston this morning, in order to celebrate Grammy's birthday at The Cheesecake Factory. Unfortunately, Boston and Connecticut got pounded with snow, so we cancelled our trip. Anyway, since we knew we'd probably be home all day on Sunday, we decided to take a trip to Burlington, VT yesterday. It was a very cold day, but we weren't expecting any snow here, so we figured it would be a fun little day trip. Well, if you've never been to Burlington, you have to go! It was such a fun time. We had lunch at a really cute brewery, and then walked around Burlington for a while. We had a chance to ride on a buggy led by a miniature horse, we stopped to watch carolers on the pedestrian walk, and we saw lots of dogs in sweaters and booties. Maya had a great time, and was totally exhausted by the time we got home. I think next time, when it's a bit warmer, we'll visit the Ben and Jerry's factory, and get some ice cream. Yesterday was just not an ice cream day. Instead, we got snacks at a soup stand. That was more like it...

"Mommy, is that a horse or a dog? In other words, 'neigh' or 'woof woof?'"

"I was freezing in Burlington, but I still loved this mini-horse. I wouldn't even look at the camera!"

"I was so bundled, I could barely move. Thank goodness for my big coat!"

"Daddy got some beef stew at this little soup shack. Some of the proceeds go to the local soup kitchen in Burlington, so we felt we just had to get some soup..."

"Okay, Daddy! I'm ready to go!"

"Okay, this is off topic, but sometimes, when we hear the garage door open, Mommy and I cuddle at the top of the stairs while we wait for Daddy to come inside."

"This is a morning tubby time self-portrait. You like it?"

Steam Cleaning

First things first: Maya is feeling much better this morning! She ate almost an entire container of yogurt, and happily played with her toys for quite a while before her morning nap. She still has all her cold symptoms, but I think she must be feeling better, because she seems much more content. It snowed like crazy last night, so we might have to stay in again today - in fact, our street isn't even plowed yet! Gotta love St. Louis. Anyway, last night, we decided that Maya needed to take a shower, as the steam seemed like a good idea for her stuffy nose and cough. Maya loves her showers with Daddy. Soon (very soon), she'll be too big for it, and it'll be sad times. Boo. I guess I have a toddler now...
"Make sure you cover my privates, Mommy! I'm a big girl now!"

"Don't let go, Daddy!"

"I love my Dad. Can you tell?"

It's Raining in Here!

Maya likes when Daddy holds her up in the shower like the dad in The Lion King. It's getting to the point where she's a little too big to hold in the shower, but we're still doing it because it's so much fun. She loves clinging to her daddy and getting rained on at the same time. What a little sweetie. Oh, and check out the new activity table that Brook gave to us. She had 2, and was looking to get rid of one of them. What good luck for us! Thanks, Brook!

"I'm feeling shy about my privates."

"Okay, I'm over my shyness!"

"I like this table, but I've been standing at it for so long, and I don't know how to sit down... boy am I tired!"

If you always do what you've always done...

...you'll always get what you've always gotten! Right, Maya?

Fun Times in the Tub

Here is Maya's "Ode to a Good Tubby":

Before and After

Here are Maya's before and after tubby shots. I had just taken out her ponytail, and we were waiting for the water to warm up before she took her dunk.

"I'm goin' in!"

"Clean!"

Tickle Me Maya

For some reason, Maya was very fussy yesterday afternoon. At first, I got nervous she was sick again, but now I'm chalking it up to cabin fever, since it was so cold outside and we didn't get out much. Fortunately, she did a complete 180 by the evening, and was the cutest little girl on the planet. No, seriously - the entire planet. I have lots of video and pictures from our fun night...

Nothin' like a Good old Tubby.

Our trip to Connecticut has been something of a whirlwind, as you can probably tell by my lack of blogging. Maya is finally feeling better, and she has been happily tagging along on our daily outings. Just yesterday, we went to New Hampshire for the day, to check out the rental situation. We found a couple of places we liked, but we are still on the fence about where we want to live. Maya was such a good girl, sleeping like a champ in the car, and waving to all the people we met on our trip. On a side note, Maya is also starting to eat table food. She at some chicken, a french fry, graham crackers, some bread, and a piece of banana bread. Oddly, I haven't been able to get her to eat cheese. She's just not into it. Kevin hates cheese, and I sincerely hope that Maya doesn't take after him in this respect. That would be a travesty. Today I bought her a scoop of mac and cheese, and she ate 2 single macaronis, before shutting and locking up her mouth. I'm going to keep working on her. Wish me luck!

"Connecticut tubbies are just as good as St. Louis tubbies! Go figure!"

"This is like a shower, but no one is holding me. How strange..."

"Ahhhhh... This is just so relaxing."

"I'm so tired, Mommy. I love resting on you."
