Thirsty Baby

In case the photos weren't enough... Please check out this video of Maya, as she drinks up the kiddie pool.

I Have No Excuse or Red Eye Reduction

This is the longest I've gone without updating the blog, and I have no excuse besides pure laziness. I am so sorry everyone. Anyway... Kevin is finally back in Southbury with us, and we couldn't be happier. Well, actually, we'd be happier if he wasn't leaving for New Hampshire tonight, but that's okay. We'll be there in less than a week. Then, I promise to update much more frequently. So, we've been keeping busy this week, hanging with old friends and family. We visited my friend and "cooperating teacher" (from my student teaching), Sue, for strawberries at Starbucks, we swam at Juju and Dave's pool, ate dinner with Kevin's old high school friends, and had breakfast at Ryan's house. All in all, a very successful week!
"Mommy, are you going to pack me in this suitcase?"

"Look! I'm eating trees!"

"No, seriously, Mom - please pack me in the suitcase."

"This is my cuz, Tyson. Just playing..."

"Our trip to the pool was a surprise, so we didn't have a bathing suit. I'm pretty content though."

"This is the kiddie pool. Nice, huh?"

"I ate fruit when we visited Mommy's friend Sue at Starbucks. It was so yummy."

"Grammy and Grampy let me drive the shopping cart at Caraluzzi's! I have my learner's permit."

"We also found a train table at the toy store... Finally!"

"Like my horsie and hat?"

Grammy and Grampy's Maya

Connecticut has been fun, but tiring, since we haven't had much luck at finding things to do. Grampy and Grammy have been enjoying Maya very much. We went to visit Grammy at work today, and then visited our old friend, Meg, at the mall. She just had a baby 9 weeks ago, but I foolishly forgot to bring the camera. Silly me. For more info on what we've been up to, please see the photos below!

"Grampy, when you tuck my dress and sweater into my tights, it makes me look like I have a big butt. Please refrain from tucking in the future. Thank you."

"Let me out of here!"

"Look at my new water table! Unfortunately, I have barely played with it, since it's been raining nonstop. In fact, it's inside now... This weather stinks!"

"Grammy loves reading to me. I'm so lucky!"

"Grampy recently introduced me to the 'Big Gulp!' Yummmm."

That's Some Baby!

Maya loves taking a bath in Grammy and Grampy's sink. Lately, we've been giving her a shower, so this has been a real treat. In keeping with her love of cups, Maya has been enjoying Grammy's green measuring cups as a substitute for her regulars. If only she wasn't so interested in drinking the bath water...

A Letter From Maya, to her Friends in St. Louis....

Dear Nash, Margot, Alex, James, Keira, Corey, Charlie, and Randy (and of course, all the other friends I played with during my only year in St. Louis),

Guess what? I found a great play area for us! It's called the Southbury Public Library, and it has tons of toys! It's kind of like Kangaroo Kids, but cleaner, and with more fun stuff to play with. The only problem, is that it's about 1,100 miles away from you. So, I am trying to figure out a solution to this problem. One solution is to convince your mommies and daddies that Connecticut is very pretty and peaceful, and that it's worth a vacation trip. Another thought, is to just come yourselves, as accompanied minors on a plane. What do you think? I am a huge fan of this idea. American Airlines has a direct flight to Hartford. My Mommy will pick you up at the airport and bring you right to the library so we can play. Also, my Grammy and Grampy are so nice. They will let you sleep at their house. No problem.

Any takers?

I love you and miss you,
Maya B.

"I love to drink milk in the morning. It's tastes better this way."
"There are 2 noteworthy things about this picture. One, is that I am drinking from the wrong end of the cup, and the other is that the valve is dripping milk onto the floor. So much for 'no spill' sippies."

"This is my clippety-clop horse. He's the best."

"Here I am at the library. This place is like an endless fountain of toys, puzzles, and books. Mommy said we can go every day!"

; "I'm doing well, but I miss Daddy and all my friends."

"Daddy, is that you calling?"

"Oh, hi Dad!"
"I fell yesterday at the library and bonked my head. See my wound? I am very proud of it, although I was terribly sad at the time."

Maya's Date with Stew

So, Connecticut has been relatively boring so far, although we are having fun playing with family and old friends. Last night, we decided to take a post-dinner trip to Stew Leonard's. For those of you who don't frequent Connecticut, Stew Leonard's is a supermarket with amazing produce, fresh dairy and meats, beautiful flowers and plants, and a really great hot bar and frozen yogurt stand. The other cool thing about Stew's, is that they have a wide array of entertaining things for kids, like dancing chickens, a petting zoo, a band made up of milk bottles and eggs, an acrobatic lobster, etc. Maya thoroughly enjoyed the sites, but mostly just loved the frozen yogurt. She must take after her mommy. Our camera battery ran out in the middle of the trip, so I didn't get many photos of her taking in the sites. Oh well.

"Oh my goodness! It's a dancing and singing Chiquita banana!"

"This produce band is crazy. Who ever heard of an egg playing the drums?"

"This is my favorite part. Thanks for sharing, Grammy."

Surprise! We Moved!

Well, our official move date is tomorrow (Monday), but unfortunately, we had to make our move a few days early, due to some extenuating circumstances. Anyway, Kevin came home with us, just for the weekend, and he went home today. Maya and I are going to be in Connecticut now for the next 3 weeks before we make our move to New Hampshire. We are enjoying our trip, and Grammy and Grampy have been excellent hosts. Maya loves the toys here, and she has had a chance to see all her cousins, which has been great. Sadly, Kevin accidentally took home our camera, so I have none of the photos of Maya with her cousins, from our weekend. I will be using my parents' camera for the next 2 weeks, so hopefully I'll still be able to capture some fun moments.

"Thank goodness we're at Grammy and Grampy's house - home of my favorite pony!"

"Mommy, what's up with this new camera? I'm not sure I like this."

The following are Maya's 3 most common expressions...

"This is my happy, yet unsure face."

"This is my serious face."
"Okay, now this is funny."

Packing, Organizing, Leaving

Sorry I've been missing lately. We've been getting ready to leave, and it's become a little hectic - especially since we're trying to see all our friend before we leave. Anyway, we are having a good week. This morning we played with Brooke and Brie, and this afternoon we played with Christina and Sarah. What could be better?! It was a day of friends!

"This is my new hat. You think it matches my outfit?"

"Just chillin' with my animal crackers."
